I don’t feel ready for Easter Sunday, Lord.
I’m still in a Good Friday mood.
Thinking about despair,
Abandonment,
Loss,
Carrying a cross,
Suffering and pain.
Thinking about the disciples,
Bewilderment, incomprehension,
Fear.
I don’t feel ready for Easter Sunday, Lord.
I don’t want to admit
That there can be hope
And joy
After so much pain.
Like Thomas,
Who held on
to his Good Friday memory.
But you say
Here, put your hands in mine
Feel my wounds.
I am with you
Wherever you are.
